Elite Series 2 – Black
Release date |11.4.2019
Are you looking to upgrade your Xbox Elite 1 controller?
The good news is that if you are Microsoft will have something for you coming November 4th. The original Xbox Elite wireless controller was released back in 2015. Microsoft gave us one of the most developed video game controllers with levels of customization out of this world, which in my opinion surpassed previous Xbox controllers. We now have an improved version of the Xbox Elite 1.
Most Advance Controller in the market?
Microsoft announced the Elite 2 controller at the EA and Microsoft conference on June 11th 2019. According to Senior Designer Elliot Hsu, the controller is the most advanced product that will hit the market.
The research started for the improved Elite 2 series right after the unveiling of the Elite 1. Four years later, several countries, lots of research, interviewing and learning from Xbox gamers and hundreds of hours of testing, Microsoft brings the Elite series 2, this remote is exactly what gamers need.
The Elite series 2 has improvements on all mechanics and functionality, making it the most advanced controller ever. The controller is compatible with the Xbox One console, Windows PC and other platforms that support the Xbox controller.
Wrap Around Grip: The wrap grip for the Elite 2 goes all the way around the controller. The wrap grip differs from the Elite 1 as the controller had it on the top portion of it.
The idea behind to have the grip wrap all round, was to give players with different hand grips and playing styles a better wrapping grip across the entire controller.
Adjustable Tension Joystick: This is a super feature leaving all the other gaming remotes in the dark ages. What this means is that you have the ability to adjust the joystick tension in three different positions.
Setting 1 – Low Tension (57.8 gf)
Setting 2 – Medium Tension (73.1 gf)
Setting 3 – High Tension (86.2 gf)
(gf = Grams-Force – is a force measurement.)
Depending on what kind of feel you like, you can adjust accordingly (both Joysticks.)
How to adjust, the tension on the joysticks: 3 easy steps.
Step 1: Look for the Thumbstick adjustment tool ( tool included)
Step 2: Remove joystick cover
Step 3: Insert Thumbstick tool into the slot on top of joystick rotate to the right one click ( that would be the medium setting) rotate once more to set it on the high setting.
Shorter Hair Trigger lock setting:
On the original Elite or ( Elite 1) the controller had 2 hair trigger switch positions. Microsoft added a third hair trigger switch position allowing a much shorter throw on the trigger for faster rapid-fire response.
The remote controller can automatically recognize adjustments to the hair-trigger lock. This little feature is so convenient, you no longer have to go to the Xbox Accessories App and make changes there.
Three Profile positions: On the Elite 1 there were 2 profile positions that allowed you to customize your profile. Microsoft added a third profile position (plus a default position) the default position is amazing, you no longer have to guess on how to put it back if you set it incorrectly. Thank you, Microsoft!
Extended-play and durability?
For those who are familiar with the Xbox One wireless controller knows that there is a back door for batteries. In the Elite series 2, Microsoft actually internalized the battery. Each charge can last up to 40 hours of continuous play. The long-life battery was designed to operate at its full capacity for years of use.
Microsoft re-engineer components such as bumpers, thumbstick and the grip material for improved durability, making it one of the most durable controllers ever made by Microsoft.
What is in the carry case?
The carry case comes with a charging dock, an area for all your components and kits. One of the innovations is that the charging dock can exist outside or you can charge the controller inside the carry case through the port on the back of the case.
Here is a list of the components inside the carry case:
- Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2
- Set of 6 thumbsticks: Standard (2), Classic (2), Tall (1), Wide Dome (1)
- Set of 4 paddles: Medium (2), Mini (2)
- Set of 2 D-pads: Standard, Faceted
- Thumbstick-adjustment tool
- Charging dock
- USB-C type cable
You Connect to Xbox One consoles via wireless (Bluetooth connectivity) or using the included 9’ USB-C cable. Wirelessly connect to Windows 10 PCs and tablets using Bluetooth, or with the 9’ USB-C cable. (cable included) Connect to Windows 7 and 8.1 PCs with the included 9’ USB-C cable; some functionality is not supported.
The new Xbox Elite 2 is a true upgrade, completely re-engineered to bring us the most advanced controller. The joystick tension I believe will be one of the best features of this controller.
If you are a serious gamer and want to get more out of the gaming session I suggest you pick one up. My Game Accessories would like to remind you to keep those remotes charged and keep gaming!
